Best flat panel CRT television?

I know I'm about ten years behind on the technology, but I'm also a grad student trolling Craigslist for free - $30 tv's, so I can't be picky. I've come across lots and lots of aggressively helpful "Best LCD..." lists, but the "Best CRT..." lists seem to be archived in an alternate dimension. So, for someone who is picky beyond their means about screen quality, pixelation, deep black, etc., what should I be looking for in the two-three years used CRT market in the 27" range?
