What are possible solutions to a 1990 Chevy Corsica cutting out?

it cuts out when I'm idling/stopped or going slow enough sometimes, or it will sputter or lose power sometimes while i'm driving and then cut out. we've checked for a possibility of a vapor lock and it doesn't appear the problem. what are some other solutions or causes?
